Frederica von Stade (who friends call "Flicka") gave a concert with the Symphony of the Midlands, shortly before retiring at the end of the 2010-11 season. The concert took place at the Etherredge Center of the University of South Carolina at Aiken, and featured opera and art song favorites, with some broadway thrown in. After that concert, to round out this edition of Carolina Live, we'll travel to Mepkin Abbey, the site of some of the Piccolo Spoleto concerts during their summer festival. Yuriy Bekker is the soloist in Vivaldi's Four Seasons, playing with the Ensemble of St. Clare.
