A Rare, Bohemian Gem: Dvorak's 'The Jacobin'

Introduction to 'The Jacobin'

THE HIT SINGLE: "We have wandered in foreign lands"

In Act Two, the villagers don't quite trust the newcomers Bohuš and Julie (baritone Roman Janál and soprano Maria Kobielska). The two persuade everyone that they truly love their homeland with the moving duet, "We have wandered in foreign lands."

THE B SIDE: "Little son, my flower"

Julie finally softens the heart of Count Vilem (bass Miloslav Podskalsy), by singing the gentle lullaby "Little son, my flower" -- the same song the Count's late wife used to sing to Bohuš when he was still a child.
