Art Imitates Art in 'Goyescas'

THE HIT SINGLE: "Song to a Nightingale"

In the final scene of Goyescas, Rosario (soprano Giuseppina Piunti) sits alone in a moonlit garden, and listens to the singing of a nightingale. She responds with a mournful song of her own.

THE B SIDE: "Senza mamma ..."

In Puccini's opera, after learning the tragic fate of her child, Sister Angelica (soprano Amarilli Nizza) mourns her loss, singing, "Without your mother, my baby, you are dead."
